Galetta is an early-season standout bred at North Carolina State University, known for its large, dark red berries that cap easily and fill flats in a hurry. The fruit has an attractive, glossy finish and excellent flavor, making it a favorite for fresh market sales, farm stands, and home gardens that want an early flush of high-quality berries.

Plants are vigorous and show good tolerance to foliage diseases, with added Red Stele resistance from their Earliglow parentage. Galetta performs especially well in heavier soils where some varieties struggle, and it holds berry size well through the picking season. In the Upper Midwest, it is best suited to southern Minnesota and comparable regions where winter injury is less of a concern.
