Caroline is the standard fall-bearing raspberry for southern Minnesota, favored for its combination of productivity and standout flavor. Berries are larger than Heritage and deliver a rich, full, and intense raspberry taste that works beautifully for fresh eating, desserts, and freezing. Plants are very vigorous and set heavy fall crops of medium-large, bright red berries that hold up well when picked and handled with care.

This variety has better tolerance to root rot than Heritage and is widely adapted, performing from the East Coast to the West Coast wherever conditions are moderate. The farther south it is grown, the earlier the fall crop will ripen, but Caroline does not handle high heat and drought well, so consistent moisture and some protection from extreme heat are important.
